# JTAG Driver Setup (2nd PC)

The DMA Tool installs your card's JTAG driver for you.

The JTAG driver lets your **2nd PC** talk to the card's **JTAG / UPDATE port**, which is used for reading your DNA ID and flashing firmware. The [**DMA Tool**](/getting-started/dma-tool.md) installs it for you.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Install the DMA Tool

If you have not already, [**install the DMA Tool**](/getting-started/dma-tool.md) on your **2nd PC**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Move the cable to the JTAG port

Plug the card's USB cable into its **JTAG / UPDATE port**, and make sure your **Game PC** is switched on.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Install the driver if the tool asks

If a red banner says **The JTAG driver is not installed.**, click **Install driver** and click **Yes** when Windows asks for permission. The banner disappears on its own once Windows has loaded the driver.

No banner, and a programmer showing as connected in the next step, means the driver is already installed.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Check it worked

Open the **Firmware** page. The box at the top should say **CH347 USB-JTAG programmer connected**.

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://888198756-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F0K57dcpvXRKRq1DwMoXo%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-0e9b869fecbeb04ba920058d1a314ba70e3f15c8%2Fdma-tool-flash-ready.webp?alt=media" alt="The Firmware page showing CH347 USB-JTAG programmer connected"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Still says No programmer connected?** Check the cable is in the **JTAG / UPDATE** port and your Game PC is on. If it still says that and no red banner is showing, the DMA Tool does not recognise your card's JTAG chip. Read your DNA with [**DNA ID (Manual)**](/dma-hardware-guides/manual-method/manual-dna-id.md) and flash with [**35T Flashing (Manual)**](/dma-hardware-guides/manual-method/manual-35t-flashing.md) instead.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Says FTDI JTAG programmer connected instead?** Some cards use an FTDI chip for their JTAG port instead of a CH347. The DMA Tool works with it, but the chip needs a one-time driver switch. Press **Read card info**, and if the tool asks for the switch, click **Prepare programmer**, follow the steps the tool shows, then click **Check again**. If the tool still cannot read your card, read your DNA with [**DNA ID (Manual)**](/dma-hardware-guides/manual-method/manual-dna-id.md) and flash with [**35T Flashing (Manual)**](/dma-hardware-guides/manual-method/manual-35t-flashing.md) instead.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

#### ✅ You're Done

Your card's JTAG driver is set up.

{% hint style="info" %}
Next, set up the [**DATA Driver (2nd PC)**](/dma-hardware-guides/dma-card/data-driver-setup-2nd-pc.md).
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Tool not working? Install the driver by hand with the [**JTAG Driver (Manual)**](/dma-hardware-guides/manual-method/manual-jtag-driver.md) guide.
{% endhint %}
