# BellTower

Setup guide for BellTower on Dead by Daylight.

### Before you start

BellTower is strict about the state of your PC, and skipping these steps can result in bans. Work through the [Pre-Setup Guide](/getting-started/pre-setup-guide.md) first. BellTower needs all of it: Visual C++ (x86 and x64), DirectX, Windows Defender off and WinRAR installed, followed by a restart.

Then make sure all of this is true:

* Windows 11 is on the latest version and your GPU driver is up to date.
* NVIDIA Overlay, ShadowPlay, ReShade and Overwolf are off.
* RivaTuner, FACEIT anti-cheat and Akros anti-cheat are uninstalled.
* NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync are off.
* You are not using a custom operating system.
* Windows display scaling is set to 100%.

### Download your loader

Open the BellTower download page, enter your license key and download your loader. Your client is generated specifically for you, so the key goes in here before you can download anything. Your key is on your [purchases page](/getting-started/accessing-your-key.md).

### Extract the loader

The download is an archive, so you cannot run it from inside the archive. Extract it with WinRAR onto your Desktop or into a folder of its own. [How to extract](/getting-started/pre-setup-guide.md#install-an-archive-tool)

### Prepare your game

* Close Steam completely, then right-click it and select **Run as administrator**. Always open Steam as administrator for BellTower.
* Turn on the **Steam Overlay**.
* Set the game to **Borderless** or **Fullscreen Windowed**. Exclusive fullscreen will not work.
* Turn off **Frame Generation** and **NVIDIA Reflex**.
* Remove any launch options (right-click the game, select **Properties**, then clear **Launch Options**).
* Close the game. Do not have any game open when you start the loader.

### Run the loader as administrator

Right-click the loader and select **Run as administrator**. Double-clicking it will not work.

If Windows shows a **SmartScreen** notice, click **More info**, then **Run anyway**.

### Log in

Enter your key and click **Login**. Then check the **Setup** list and make sure everything under it is green before you go on. If something is not green, work through the Pre-Setup Guide again or open a ticket.

### Choose the product and load

Choose the product and click **Load**. Wait until the loader tells you to start your game (**Please Launch the Game**).

### Start your game

Launch the game. The menu shows by itself if everything was done correctly.

| Key              | Action                      |
| ---------------- | --------------------------- |
| `INSERT`         | Open and close the menu     |
| `DELETE`         | Panic key, closes the cheat |

`DELETE` is the panic key and shuts the cheat down immediately. Do not press it expecting the menu.
